Spoiler Note – Added Tuesday June 28th 2011
THANK YOU HBO!!!! You gave us access to episode 2 LESS THAN 24 hours after the season premier. Now how many people are really going to avoid it until Sunday!!! Well kudos to you … me … I couldn’t wait so here is my review Ep 2 ……..
Episode 2 picks up right where Eric and Sookie leave off and Eric lets Sookie know that in his own way he really is just doing all of this because he cares. You have to remember he is a VAMPIRE VIKING …. please and thank you do not rate highly on his list of necessities. Where Eric leaves (on a wonderful human note – I will fix that) …. Sookie of course rushes over to Bill’s *sigh* to be greeted by the King’s armed forces and she realises things may be a bit different.
Bill is busy with the traitor witch and it is quite obvious to Sookie that the woman is not “part of his security detail” …. stupid men never learn ….. but anyway Sookie had coming running over because she has decided now Bill is King he can just order Eric to sell her her house back. Now we learn something most of us suspected … Bill is just not that powerful and he is still worried about what Eric can do. We get to see a couple of flashbacks – An 80’s punk Bill Compton (complete with Guyliner lol… now normally that might sway me but on his it was just ridiculous lol) …. drinking from a barman and not killing him. This is where he meets 80’s Nan Flanigan who at this point is just involved in a group of activists trying to infiltrate the vampire royalties and they want to recruit Bill because he is not killing his victims. You just know this was obviously the start of the AVL!!! More about this a bit later ……..
Over in crazy Hotshot Jason is tied to a bed and he comes too with his head being licked clean …. “it’s not that ‘he” don’t appreciate the lickin’ …. but ‘he’s’ a band-aid kinda guy” Turns out Felton is back because he is unable to get Crystal pregnant so they are back to make that Jason’s job. Not so bad until you find out that part of that is turning Jason into a panther first. I get a feeling this isn’t going to be pretty and poor Jason is left with 2 big panthers chewing on him like a chew toy.
Sam out other shifter is getting very friendly with his other pack of (they have to be shifters … were-horses just is insane” …. especially Luna …. a little shapeshifter that apparently can shift into human form too due to some kind of native american curse. Little “faker” Tommy follows him one night and we learn that his leg has been healed just fine for some time but we still don’t get any clues as to whats going on with him and Maxine Fortenberry.
Tara is back (complete with some weird fairy type flashback) and Sookie discovers Eric has fixed the door on the house …. and built himself a daytime resting place….. Well it is his house 😀 Sookie decides to go and confront him about it over at Fangtastia.
Another one heading for Fangtasia is Jessica. After getting involved in a fight at the beginning of the episode as they left Fangtasia the night before Hoyt is nursing some nasty bruises but when Jessica offers to heal he basically calls her blood shit which she takes pretty badly 😦 I actually felt bad for her ….. typical man doesn’t think before he speaks. So Jessica says she is going to the drug store but ends up going to Fangtasia so we know that’s not going to end well.
So while Sookie is waiting at Fangtastia, Eric has been summoned by Bill and we finally get to see what happened to the Queen. Bill wants to get Eric to see the house but he just says no … hmmmmmmm obviously all-powerful Bill not so all-powerful King after all lol. Love the disdain with which Eric looks at him!!!!! So when that’s a no go he sends Eric off to deal with the witches and put an end to their little necromancy experiments. We also get a nice flashback to find out how Bill “killed the queen” … not through strength of fighting for his life … but by calling the AVL in and they SHOT HER!!!! KNEW he didn’t deserve that crown!!!!
Sookie at Fangtasia has a lovely little heart to heart with Pam who as always tells Sookie exactly how it is. She needs some vampire to own her or she will probably end up dead and in her opinion she could do much worse than Eric who for whatever reason seems to at least care about her. Sookie goes to the bathroom only to find Jessica draining the little fangbanger she found the night before. Jessica is not pleased to see her and does the whole sulky typical teenage act that you get when you catch a teen doing something they know is wrong. It lets you see again how young Jessica really is. She needs an adult vamp to take her under their wing.
Finally Eric goes off to deal with the witches (complete with Tara who tagged along with Lafayette and Jesus). Marney is already on the hunt for a dead body and definitely does not seem as intimidated by Eric as a good witch should be. That flash of necromancy has given her more confidence than she deserves especially when the real power seems to be stemming from Lafayette. Everything is going according to Eric’s plan until Tara interferes. Lafayette was having nothing to do with the magic circle until Tara jumped into the danger but then he felt compelled to help *Sigh* and then it all goes wrong. You can see the power in that room and it also becomes clear that it’s a “possessed” Marney that is in control. after the spell is cast and Eric leaves she goes back to being a docile old witch with no idea what happened.
And the episode leaves with Eric running down the road with no shirt on and obviously “wrong”. Sookie drives up to him and he obviously has no idea who she is ….. but he does know … that SHE SMELLS GOOD ………..
AND NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS 😥 …. Oh WAITING SUCKS LOL
